An Epistle To My All-Time Hero ✍

December 25th.  This is the day that the world has chosen to celebrate your birth, Jesus. Happy Birthday to You!

I thank God the Father for sending You to me. For without You, Jesus, I am bound to sin and imprisoned in the darkness while the devil attempts to blind me and govern my life, moving toward the highway of hell like a sheep about to be slaughtered. Nevertheless, Jesus, You came here on earth and reached out to us. You opened my eyes to the truth, led me into the light, and granted me access to Your heavenly kingdom.

Jesus, I truly appreciate You picking me to be a part of Your flock. I adore You. Although I cannot love You in the same way that you love me perfectly, you still love me unconditionally in ways that no human being can. I have frequently grieved You by being disobedient and failing to do the right thing, but You, my Emmanuel, never gave up on me; You have never left my side.

Without you in me, Jesus, I'm sure I'll feel sorry for myself, curled up in a corner, and wallowing in self-pity, especially now that my husband is on board this Christmas season. But because of You in my life, things have changed. Just as You defeated death, overcame the grave, conquered the world, and then were raised to life again from the dead, as a demonstration of Your power and authority as Lord and Son of God, You have passed me the torch of victory as an overcomer, even more than a conqueror of life's obstacles. I went from being a victim to becoming a victor through you, our conquering king.

You are a hero without a cape or cloak, without a spear or sword, but with Your powerful words alone, You guarded and saved us all. You loathed violence (when Peter cut off Malchus' ear while arresting You), you didn't like it, and so You healed his ear. You advocated for peace, love, and kindness. You chose to win the battle over the adversary not by avenging but through Your sacrificial love of your precious blood on the cross, by having a spear thrust into Your side, a crown of thorns placed on Your head, your wrists and feet pierced with nails, and Your back exposed to 40 lashes.

Although You did not do any magic, Your signs and miracles had an influence on us and amazed us. You are indeed a hero and always will be.

And now I look forward to celebrating Christmas, not for the food or the gifts, but for the deeper meaning of knowing that my Jesus was born to rescue and redeem me from the pit of hell and return me to His own.

Hail to the King of kings and the Lord of lords!

Team Jesus Forever.
