Power or Authority? ✍
If God allows you to choose between having power and having authority, which would you pick?
I bet "power" is your answer! You think that having power is incredibly fantastic.
Consider a simple traffic officer at a crosswalk. Then a huge truck arrives. Which of them has power, and which has authority?
Because of its size, the truck has power, but the police officer (despite his small stature) has authority. The police officer can signal stop or go with a simple raise of the hand, and the truck (despite its massive size) can do nothing but follow and obey the officer. The police officer refers to this as "authority."
Realize that when we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior and became God’s children, we obtained authority over our enemies.
Satan, our adversary, has the power to influence or manipulate us, but we can defeat him and his minions through our God-given authority.
When the enemy bombards us with things that steal our joy and peace, when he is making our lives hard, when he is persistent in bringing us down, we must assert our authority. Rebuke the enemy in Jesus' name, and the devil will be forced to flee (James 4:7).
As Children of God, we also have the ability to call upon the help of our Lord of hosts to send us His legions of angels to support us in our spiritual battle. Much like the police officer who can summon all the help he needs from his squads with a single call on his radio, including snipers, troops, and whatever else is necessary if the truck driver engages in hostile behavior.
Indeed, authority is more powerful than power.
Going back to the question:
If God lets you choose between power and authority, which do you prefer now?
LUCAS 10:19 --Binigyan ko kayo ng kapangyarihang tapakan ang mga ahas at mga alakdan, at daigin ang lahat ng kapangyarihan ng kaaway; at walang makakapanakit sa inyo.
